Lake Powell is calling and I MUST GO!

For the 4th of July we had a family trip to the BEST place in the world! Lake Powell. We had a BLAST, but as always there were a few crazy things that happened. We got to Lake Powell late on a friday and slept in the parking lot and then we got up early Saturday to start the fun! The lake was super full, it was crazy! The water would rise about a foot every day, we had to keep moving our camp up ever morning the water would be pretty dang close to our tents!

There was a lot of run off from the Colorado River which is unheard of in July, but that didn't stop us from skiing and having tube wars!

We found our camp, it took us a couple hours but we found it. We started setting up camp when we realized we forgot the second part of the shade that goes on the boat which we needed for little Hunter who  burns so easily. Dad drove all the way back to Springville just to get it, but it gets worst. While we were on our way back we hit a submerged log and completely shredded our prop, it looked like a shark had bitten chunks our of it. The boat started shaking and acting weird, luckily we were in cell phone range and my dad hadn't left yet, we made it to a beach by the marina and my dad had a spare prop! Which he had learned to always bring a spare from earlier experiences, he switched it and it worked great!

My beautiful nieces! :)
After the first crazy day the rest of the time was super fun, it was Bryce's first time ever to Lake Powell! He loved it along with everyone else, who couldn't love Lake Powell?

My stud nephew!
On the 4th we went to the marina to watch the fireworks, we were about a mile away from the huge crowed so we wouldn't get caught in all the crazy traffic. After the fireworks we started back to camp, Jordan goes to grab our spotlight and it doesn't turn on. It's pitch black outside and the water had hidden sand bars and islands in it and we have no light. So we start following a boat which had a camp close by so that didn't help us, we were pretty much driving blind in the dark, but my dad was driving and I trust him with anything. As we're driving I was looking hard to try to see and when I turned around there was a boat like 5 feet away from our boat flying! They were yelling at us and they were drunk. Our light was out on the back, so my dad put his head lamp on our flag and that headlamp is super bright! So they were just being ridiculous, they see us and instead of slowing down and turning they sped up and almost hit us. It was pretty scary! We kept on going in the dark as other boats were coming towards us. My dad said he'd rather be blind and driving then being a sitting duck in the dark.  I asked my dad if he wanted me to try to get the light to work, he said yeah try it out. So I start working on it and after a while I went to plug it back in and I saw sparks, I thought, " Oh that doesn't look good..." Ha I shorted the boat so our front green and red light on the nose went out! I felt horrible and sick inside, but my dad said it was all good. We all got our cell phones and turn them on to be the nose lights, We finally found a flash light and it helped us get to our camp. My dad always puts a lantern on the beach when we wont be back until dark, you can see it from far away too. It made me think of the gospel in our lives and how if we get lost we can always find our way back with the light of Christ. I felt sad because I was praying the whole time and felt that I should try to fix it and I broke it. My dad told me that sometimes things happen for a reason just to teach us something and it may not always be the way that we want it to happen. I thought that was pretty cool, and it was cool to see my dad be so calm during the whole experience. My dad is like MacGyver, he can do anything and fix anything with the craziest stuff.

Well that is our crazy, awesome Lake Powell trip. I hope y'all enjoyed our story and I will have a bunch of pictures to put on. Thanks for reading! Sorry if my blog is weird and crazy! I'm still learning, this is my first time blogging, it confuses me still haha! MUCH LOVE!

haha so this video is of us shooting off a big box and we all had no idea what it was going to do. I got it from my work and we failed to read the directions, it says sit about 100 feet away......yeah we were like 5 feet away. So i had the honer of lighting it because it was mine. I lit it and I took off running just in case. Well it went of and it shot up super high in the air, super cool!! Everyone was so surprised that it scared everyone and we all took off running for cover. Bryce got some of it on film, it looks like we were in a war zone. You can see my mom taking a chair out to get out of the way haha! Enjoy!

More Honeymoon

Our sweet ride.
Me in front of a huge boat!

So after our amazing time on the boat and in California we also continued our Honeymoon up in Hobble Creek canyon where we camp and shot guns and went for a little hike. It was so much fun, Bryce is so much fun to be with and it was the best week of my life! We even invited my mom and Megan up to have some s'mores with us, we had a blast. We also found some skeletons and cute little frogs while we were up there. Haha we forgot to bring earplugs for when we went shooting, so Bryce had a brilliant idea! He got bread and shoved it in his ears haha! The funny thing is it actually worked pretty dang good! Here are some of the pictures we took in Cali and up Hobble Creek. I hope y' all enjoy! :)

Honeymoon

Just gettin' ready to get on the boat. :)
Bryce and I in Mexico!
Freaking amazing time.... Kaylie and I flew down to Laguna Beach, California. From there we hitched a ride with a crazy van driver. This guy drove his shuttle bus through the narrow streets of south Orange County like a mad man. By the time we got to the dock area we were relieved. We then headed for this big dome building that docked our boat. Only thing allowing my 19 year old wife on a party boat was our wedding papers. It would have been a baaaad day if I had forgotten those. After getting our boarding passes we climbed up the 3 or 4 flights of stairs up to the loading ramp. We hopped onto Carnivals, Paradise boat. Games, lights, alcohol were flooding the entrance deck. It amazes me every time I get on these boats it seems like everyone's hammered in 2 hours, before we leave the dock haha. We found our cabin put our stuff down and then we were off to looking at the boat. This boat had tons of activities. Everything from: pools, hot tubs, ping pong, miniature golf, and of course lots of food. Our favorite thing to tap into the whole time was the ice cream machines, those things rock.
Our room! and our lovely fake window haha.
